File Annual Returns and Request CAC Documents

After incorporation, annual returns is required for most registered entities. An annual return is not a tax filing or a declaration of profit. It is a compliance filing that tells the CAC your entity is still active, submitted every year regardless of whether the business traded, changed, or stayed the same.

When you register a new entity, CAC gives certain kinds of documents including the CAC certificate, Status reports which is the application of registration, MEMART for companies, Constitution for Incorporated Trustee, and Partnership Deed for LP and LLP. If you lose any of these documents, you can request a new copy from the CAC. If you also made a change or need the current state of your entity, you can request for the status report, which will show the active status and other details. 

A Certified True Copy is a CAC-authenticated copy of a document already on your registered file, carrying the same legal standing as the original for banking, legal, and regulatory purposes. It exists for the moment your original certificate is lost, damaged, or simply needs to be presented somewhere the original cannot travel.

Also, letter of good standing is required in some further registration or applications. is the CAC’s formal confirmation that your entity has met its filing obligations and carries no outstanding compliance issues.
